BALD EAGLE STATE FOREST RIDING AREAS

SEVEN MOUNTAINS RAMBLE  LOOP 1&2
This area requires a street licensed, inspected and insured motorcycle.

The trails on these loops vary from easy to difficult  The loops are marked in yellow paint, in one direction. Public dirt roads tie together the trail sections.

Loop 1 can be started at the 7 Mountains Campground, which is located just south of Potters Mill PA, on Route 322. Be sure to stop in and give the campground owner some compensation for parking there for the day! Proceed on Sand Mountain road to the trailhead at Ground Oak trail. The loop is about 30 miles long.

Loop 2  can be started at the Jacks Mountain snowmobile parking lot, which is north of Troxelville on Route 235, at the top of the mountain. This loop is about 40 miles long. Gasoline is available in Troxelville.

If your planning on riding both loops, its best to start at the campground and gas up at Troxelville at the end of the second loop.



SHADE MOUNTAIN TRAIL SYSTEM
Shade Mountain is open to dirt bikes with spark arrestors.

The Shade Mountain Riding area is located just north of McAlisterville PA. Take route 322 fifty miles north to the Thompsontown exit at route 333. Turn right on route 333 to route 235 north to Mcalisterville. Continue on route 235 to dirt parking lot at the top of the mountain. The parking lot is located 7/10 mile past the Snyder County line sign on route 235.

The trails are very rocky, enduro type trails and are marked in yellow in both directions.  All trails are designed to CROSS the only dirt road on the mountain, so you don't need a license for you bike. You do need a license if you decide to ride on the dirt road.
