In April 1973, a very energetic guy named Wally Crawford decided to form an organization that would organize all the off-road riders and clubs that were scattered across the state. In May, a handful of dedicated people met in Harrisburg, formed the Pennsylvania Trail Riders Association, and incorporated it as a non-profit corporation.
PaTRA is a family oriented riding club. We have family camping/riding weekends and one-day trail rides at various sites around the state.

Today PaTRA is still a non-profit organization. None of our officers receive any pay from the organization. Every penny that comes in, goes out to the members, and its wide range of projects aimed at protecting and enjoying the sport
Always remember that off-roading is a dangerous sport. Wear tons of protective gear and think about what you are doing when you ride. Don't litter, don't act like an idiot, ride slowly and quietly past houses and on public roads. Give everyone the right of way, stop for all hikers, horse riders and tourists. Take your helmet off and talk to people, let them know we are people with faces. Lets do it together so that we all become winners.
